hi there Carrollton important announcement today is the day that many of you have been asking about and waiting for today we pick off one school one book Country edition 2022 yep I like hearing that Applause from some of you still those of you who don't know one school one book is this awesome program we do every year every year we pick a book and cool read it together you heard me the entire school so teachers students we want you reading every night with your family and we're to have a big old book club this year Facebook are you ready to figure out what it is have you seen my little Hands by my door and maybe by your hallway I am going to need a drum roll and everybody that start banging Destino drum roll style the name of the book maybe I don't tell you that mean d I let the author tell you oh yeah I got mascara in English ready to tell you right here from her my name is Karen English and I'm the author of the Carver Chronicles is consist of a group of 3rd grade boys who happen to go to Carver Elementary School who happened to have a wonderful teacher named Miss Shelby Ortiz Gavin is the main character of first book and he's burned by an annoying sister who thinks she's all that because she's going on 13 he's always getting into trouble because of her there's a new boy name is Miss Shelby Ortiz's classroom Charles in Norman's live life and anyone can see through but the class and the class is to them but they can't catch him on them for example he said that he lived in swinging from it for many years can you speak Spanish fluently and then he even says some gobbledygook that sounds like Swedish on the kids are wondering why if he was born and raised in Spring why doesn't he have an accent when he speaks English Gavin's best friend Richard Carr Richard he has three annoying brothers and they're always able to find the goodies that he has squirreled away so when he's coming home and he's looking for that tall cold glass of milk and Oreo the Orioles are gone and he had hidden them in the oven I hope you get to know these characters and maybe get to know a few of the girl characters in Miss Shelby Ortiz's class especially Nikki and her best friend Deja like how my background changed just walk around my house I had to go get the book I was reading it in my room I mean I waited for you all to read it and here it is Dog Days by Karen English so this right here is Gavin and you're going to read all about his adventures and what goes on at Carver Elementary so I don't want you to upset if there's not a book in your room for you what we do is we have one book for everything Emily at Carrollton so if you have an older brother or sister at Carrollton Elementary the book will go home with them tonight so make sure you ask about it if for some reason there's not a book there for you that is totally take if you don't have an older brother or sister and we'll get it fixed before you go home today. Are you in are you ready for my book club I need a wear in Miss Smith are you excited to read together me to is one of my favorite times of year when we are all red the same book and we can come in and talk about it I will have a little contest Maybe I'm going to ask you to maybe take a picture with a pet at home and have your parents send it to like we did last year with family pictures we can see if they have any prizes at the end one school one book School add book club everybody's reading every night now this is not something I check you to read this is something that your parents can read to you and if you don't have time because of soccer or baseball we're also going to have mystery teacher readers reading chapter so maybe you can listen to it in the car with your fam and still be part of our book club all right sounds good I'm super excited we might have different trivia questions in your classrooms each morning and it's going to be a ton of fun this may be my what is kickoff ever but without further Ado welcome to one school one book 2022 and let's get reading fear I'm always friend
